Serving Hard-to-Reach Populations is an interactive professional development experience designed to help TRIO professionals strengthen their ability to identify, engage, and effectively serve students who face significant barriers to educational access and success. Through practical strategies, field-tested approaches, and collaborative discussion, participants will explore innovative outreach and engagement practices for populations including rural students, foster youth, justice-involved youth, military-connected students, and others who may be difficult to reach through traditional methods. Led by Amy L. Verlanic of ALV Consulting and the Sonoma State University TRIO Training Team, the training balances innovation with TRIO regulations and program requirements, giving participants actionable ideas they can immediately adapt to strengthen participation, service delivery, and student outcomes.
